 GRANTS

Seeking and securing grants to fund capital projects and to help offset operating costs is becoming more difficult every year. Some of the grants received in the past have been   eliminated and others have been cut back to such an extent that the Borough is no longer  eligible. However, that does not stop our Borough from applying. The Republicans began this tradition years ago, and will continue to persevere in obtaining grants. The following grants were either utilized in the 2011 operating budget or have been   awarded this year for use in 2012 to pay for services that would otherwise have to be   funded by your tax dollars:
Governors Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse                  10,356.00
Clean Communities Program                                                  17,837.56
Drunk Driving Enforcement Fund                                              6,803.91
Alcohol Education and Rehabilitation Fund                               1,910.38
Recycling Tonnage Grant                                                         11,687.07
Body Armor Fund                                                                      3,915.84

In addition to the above operating costs, there were various capital projects funded by grant money. By obtaining these grants, the Borough is able to make repairs and capital   acquisitions without incurring additional debt.
